Community and resource hub for Mongolian students pursuing education in the US
The problem
Mongolian students hoping to study in the US lack reliable sources. Information on colleges, costs and admissions is scattered across Facebook groups, word of mouth and paid agents, and rarely fits a Mongolian student's situation. It's hard to reach someone already studying at a given school, and once in the US, students often don't know where to find other Mongolians for advice and community.
Who it's for
Mongolian high school students and young people planning to study at a US college, and Mongolian students already studying in the US. Current students and alumni also use it to answer questions and guide the students coming after them.
What it does
amsa.mn is free. Anyone can sign up with an email on the website or the iOS app, and one account works on both. - Colleges: search, filter and compare US colleges by cost, admissions and outcomes using U.S. Department of Education data, with reviews from Mongolian students. - Places: explore US states by cost of living and transit, see how many Mongolian members live there, and read their reviews. - Network: find Mongolian students and alumni by name or school and follow them. Members can send a direct question to verified US Members, Ambassadors and Alums and track the reply. Answered questions appear on that person's profile, so others learn from them too. - Threads: a Q&A board where anyone can ask the community about admissions, college life or careers. - Feed: posts and updates from verified students in the US. - Profiles: education, work experience and social links, so students can find people who took a similar path. Students in the US can apply to become verified US Members, and AMSA admins review every application. Moderators check posts and threads before they're published. Users can report content and block members, and reports are handled within 24 hours. Push notifications tell members when someone follows them or answers their question.

Hi everyone! 👋 Getting into a US college is a lot easier when you can ask someone who's already been through it. We built amsa.mn so every Mongolian student has that someone. On amsa.mn you can compare US colleges, see what life costs in each state, and ask Mongolian students who are studying there right now. It's free on the web, and an iPhone app is coming soon. AMSA has been connecting Mongolian students in the US since 2011, and this is our way of bringing that community online. Take a look and tell us what you think! IOS version coming up soon!
